Does the Signer Have to Be in Colorado?
No. The Colorado notary must be physically located in Colorado during the notarization. The signer may be elsewhere when the document, identification, technology, location, and receiving-party requirements are satisfied.

Colorado adds two conditions for a signer physically outside the United States:

Prepare your document and device. Submit the final, complete, unsigned document using the provided instructions at least four hours before the appointment.

Common Questions
Is the session recorded?
Yes. Colorado remote notarizations are completed through real-time audio-video communication. Each remote notarization is recorded and securely stored for 10 years. The signer must expressly consent to the recording and storage before the notarial act begins.

Can every document be notarized online?
No. Eligibility depends on applicable law, document format, signer circumstances, identity verification, witness requirements, platform capabilities, and receiving-party requirements.
Common requests may include eligible affidavits, powers of attorney, travel consent forms, and business or financial documents. Each request must meet the applicable requirements.
Will the completed document be accepted?
Confirm acceptance with the organization receiving your document before purchasing. Ask whether it accepts remote online notarization, electronic signatures, and an electronically notarized document, and follow its delivery instructions.
What if I cannot complete identity verification?
Required identity checks must be completed before the appointment can proceed. Contact us before purchasing if you are unsure whether your identification or circumstances will work with the process.
Is remote notarization the same as in-person electronic notarization?
They are different appointment formats. Remote notarization uses live audio-video communication while the signer and notary are in separate locations. In-person electronic notarization uses electronic documents and signatures while the signer and notary are physically together.
