A travel-consent form may be eligible for remote online notarization when:

- The document has not been signed.
- The receiving organization accepts remote online notarization.
- The required signer has acceptable identification.

A notary cannot decide whether you need a travel-consent form, select a form, determine who must sign, or provide legal or travel advice.
Does Every Child Need a Notarized Travel-Consent Form?
No single answer applies to every trip.
The United States does not generally require evidence of both parents’ permission for a minor to travel internationally, but some destination countries require consent from a non-traveling parent or guardian. Requirements can also depend on the airline, cruise line, custody circumstances, destination, and who is accompanying the child.

What Should I Prepare?
Have these items ready before your appointment:
- The complete but unsigned electronic document
- Valid government-issued photo identification
- Instructions from the receiving organization
- All required signers
- Any required witnesses
- A charged computer, tablet, or smartphone
- A working camera and microphone
- Reliable internet
- Access to the email receiving your Proof invitation
- A private, well-lit location
Do not send Social Security numbers, complete identification numbers, financial-account information, or sensitive documents through social media or the public contact form.
Who Must Sign the Travel-Consent Form?
The required signer depends on the form, custody circumstances, destination, carrier, and receiving organization.
The notary verifies identity and witnesses the requested notarial act. The notary cannot determine:
- Which parent or guardian must sign
- Whether one or both parents must provide consent
- Whether proof of custody is required
- Which legal form should be used
- Which notarial act is appropriate

Does the Form Need Witnesses?

Does the Signer Have to Be in Colorado?
Laurel Barrett must remain physically located in Colorado while performing the remote notarial act.
A qualifying remotely located signer may be in Colorado, another U.S. state, or, in limited circumstances, outside the United States when the applicable legal, document, identity, platform, and receiving-party requirements are met.

Can Every Travel Document Be Notarized Online?
